Gantry - Ideas Portal

Gantry

Our core product, Gantry, is composed of the essential tooling plus the supporting services that provide a frictionless experience for Engineering Teams within their product development process - from planning and feature inception to deployment to the cloud and monitoring - while always supporting shift-left principles so that quality and security are built-in from the start. Gantry enables the acceleration to our platforms for their path to production.

Gantry exists as an answer to the problems posed by having a complex, decentralized DevOps tooling landscape with many different tools and tool instances duplicating capabilities.

DevOps and Tooling (DOT) is an enabling function which has been setup to implement the modern engineering vision of Maersk that creates the culture, tools and best practices and is key to realising Maersk’s vision of becoming the global integrator of container logistics.

The team has been designed to be part of a horizontal cross-cutting platform across our established platform verticals. We provide an end-to-end frictionless ecosystem of integrated tools that enables Platform Engineering Teams to deliver value to their customers fast and frequently, and with the necessary quality and security.

Availability of 'Gold Standard' Customer Information in Jira

As-Is: We rely on Jira Users (Analysts, Developers, PPOs and SMs) to add customer information like Name and segment. Because these items are entered manually each time, there is significant introduction of errors and variations (i.e. 'Kuehne + Nagel' or 'Kuehne and Nagel' or 'Kuehne Nagel').

Hopeful To-Be: Users select the relevant Customer name (perfectly spelled, just as it will be found in GCSS, CMD or MODs) which is automatically associated with the correct customer segment.

Such functionality would enable us to more easily calculate Maersk's return on investment (the name we see in Jira is the name we search for in Ecom Dash or GCSS) and make it easier to identify the work being performed for specific customers.
